I believe I wrote earlier that I would write in my blog as soon as I woke up in the morning. Now I'm thinking that right before bed is okay too. Either or.
It's too bad that I didn't start this blog a couple of weeks ago. I did a lot of fun stuff! I went hiking to Cape Split, went to a comedy club, had a fun 'run and sushi' night.
Today I did chores.
I went grocery shopping, sewed up my work shirt, did laundry, and obsessively checked my email to see if I got into NSCC (I can do that now that I have a computer).
Then I dragged my post-vacation butt to the gym. Thank goodness. Three days of eating unlimited white bread, cheese, and chocolate was bringing me down.
I also watched "Julie and Julia". I thought the movie was boring but it was also thought-provoking.
Julia Child essentially became a cook because she was bored. (Well, that's the way the movie portrayed it).
"What am I going to DO?" was her line. Now there's a crisis I can relate to.
If I don't get into school next year, what am *I* going to do?

Sunday March 28th. Hot Mess Day
This past weekend has been a vacation for me.
I don't even know why.
I've still been working, but for some reason I have been eating terribly, sleeping in and staying up late, and spending all my money on dinners and shopping.
And I've enjoyed it!
Maybe it's the girl party that's happening at my house. My roomie invited one of her friends down for the weekend, and it's been parties non-stop. If you can't beat them, join them?
Also four days ago I bought my VERY OWN MACBOOK!!!! I have NEVER owned a computer before (apart from this free one I had in first year uni, but it was a dinosaur).
Right now I look suicidal. My laptop was going to fall and I caught it with my wrist. Ouch. BUT I MUST protect this expensive baby at all costs!
This morning I woke up at ten to get ready for my first pampers party. One of my co-worker's wives is having a baby in May. So everyone from his main restaurant, and our restaurant was invited to buy diapers for them.
Graham and I were the only ones from our restaurant to attend the party. It was WAY out of town, probably a 25min drive.
The house was beautiful as the owner is an interior decorator as well as a server. She had this really cool painting that I am going to try and emulate.
There was a TON of food (industry parties always have the best!) and everyone was older (because their restaurant is really REALLY fancy, so the waitstaff are in their 30's and 40's). In fact our hosts had two children, ages 14 and 10.
The highlight of the party was the hottub on the deck. I had never been in an outdoor hottub in minus zero weather. It was beautiful; being high up overlooking the forest at dusk. Feeling the wind against your face, but not being cold. I LOVED it!
Everyone who remained inside (henceforth referred to as the peanut gallery. pg for short) had a clear view of us, and we could see them. So it didn't feel like we were excluded from the party.
Unfortunately one girl got INCREDIBLY drunk (no one else was even visibly tipsy). She hadn't brought a bathing suit so she couldn't come in the hottub. But she hung around just outside the hottub trying to give all the boys massages that they REALLY didn't want.
She was a hot mess.
Her whole t-shirt was wet, as well as her head, and let me repeat it was below zero out there!
Eventually, (to the disgust of the men) she jumped in the tub fully clothed. (the pg died laughing)
And (to the greater disgust of the men) she didn't remain fully clothed for very long.
I left after she took off her shirt. (the pg were all crying with hysteria)
Everyone else left after she started whipping her pants around her head like she was in a rodeo.
Her bra came off too. (the pg (of which I am now a part of) are hoping the children aren't looking out of their bedroom windows).
The rest of the night was spent playing pool and ping-pong.
To my absolute delight, Graham drank too much to be able to drive home. This meant that I got to drive! My little brother let me drive his car for ten minutes in December, but before then, it had actually been years since I had been behind the wheel. We also drove two members from the pg home. They asked if I was driving a standard. I told them 'no, it's just been a while!'. Their criticism honestly didn't bother me, it was funny! In any case, I did a lot better then I thought I would. I noticed the racoon that crossed the street in front of me. And when the STUPID animal turned around to run at my tires, I managed to slam on the brakes hard enough to avoid hitting it (they pg were sincerely impressed with that if at nothing else).
When I got home, girl party was in full swing with platters of cheeses and meats. I succumbed to some of these dietary pleasures, but then went to my cave (ie my bedroom in the basement).
I think my vacation is over....I am going to weigh a million pounds if I keep on this way!

Intro-why I'm writing this blog.
My name is Jennifer and this is my blog.
WARNING
Before I go any further, I have to say I doubt this blog is going to be particularly interesting. I don't say that because I reckon myself to be a boring person, but I do plan to write in this everyday. And someone's day-to-day details cannot be exciting ALL the time.
So why I am I bothering to write a less-than-stellar blog?
1. I forget things!
I wrote a blog while I was in Korea to communicate with friends and family in Canada. However, I find myself looking back at that blog every month or so. I re-remember things about my life with every reading. That has to be worth writing a blog.
2. I am on a self-improvment tear
I have been doing a lot lately to try and make myself feel the best I can; to be the most complete person I can be. I have cut WAY back on drinking, been eating better, exercising more, and I have been getting out of bed at 8am almost every morning, and going to bed at midnight (what a difference that makes). Anyway, when I wrote about my tonsillectomy, I forced myself not to be too negative about the experience (because I didn't want mom to freak). And you know what? I don't look back at that experience as negative. So maybe if I write about my life from this psycho positive perspective, then that's how I'll remember my life. Worth a shot anyway.
So that's the why.
Now for some background information:
1. I am working as a waitress in a pretty nice restaurant.
2. I am living with a roommate and her cat and dog, but I am moving into my own place in one month!
3. I have applied to the graphic design program at NSCC (which is my newly discovered passion) but I am on the waitlist. I emailed them on Friday to ask if I could get into the program in Cape Breton, and am now holding my breath waiting for a response. I REALLY want to get into school in September!
4. I will most likely be writing as soon as I wake up in the morning. So everything I write about happened yesterday.
That's it. Here begins the diary. Hold onto your hats.
